East Port Said’s Big Leap: Opening Three New Terminals
Egypt is making a major maritime play: three new terminals at East Port Said have just been launched, backed by $724 million in investment.
What’s Being Built
- The first terminal is a large-scale container terminal, developed in partnership with Maersk / Suez Canal Containers, featuring over 3,000 meters of new berths, a major boost in capacity.
- The second is a multipurpose terminal operated by Sky Ports, designed to handle a variety of cargo including dry bulk and general goods.
- The third is a dedicated RoRo (car) terminal, run by Escad together with Toyota and other partners.
Why This Matters for Karimar Ship
- Expanded Service Portfolio: With these new terminals, Karimar can extend its shipoperation and agency services to include not just container calls, but also multipurpose cargo and RoRo vessel services.
- Efficiency Gains: The extended berths reduce congestion and waiting times, making port visits faster, a big plus for Karimar’s clients and partners.
- Strategic Advantage: East Port Said is positioning itself as a global transit hub. Leveraging this, Karimar can strengthen its presence on key trade routes.
- Sustainability Outlook: As the port expands, there’s growing alignment with modern, efficient port operations. Karimar has the opportunity to promote greener, more efficient maritime services.
- New Business Opportunities: The RoRo terminal offers room for partnerships with automotive importers/exporters something Karimar could tap into for specialized vessel calls, logistics, and value-added maritime services.
